My Story
Tommy received his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting from the University of Texas-Austin in 1985. He proceeded from UT-Austin to St. Mary’s Law School in San Antonio, Texas, where he graduated with his J.D. Degree in 1989. He was admitted to the Texas State Bar and is licensed to practice in Texas. Tommy is also admitted to practice in the United States Tax Court.
Tommy moved from San Antonio, Texas, to the Rio Grande Valley, in 1991. He met his one and only wife, Mirna Castillo. They have six children, all of which were born in the Rio Grande Valley.
Tommy has worked in various areas of the law. He has tried cases that range from traffic tickets and Class C misdemeanor assaults, to multiparty wrongful death and survival causes of action. He has tried cases from Lubbock, Texas, down to the Rio Grande Valley and several venues in between. Tommy is a born litigator.
Tommy practiced as a sole practitioner under his own shingle from 1996-2020. He then joined Guerra & Sabo, PLLC as a partner in 2020. His practice with Guerra & Sabo focused primarily upon insurance defense litigation, breach of contract, formation of legal entities, and the defense of trucking accidents, commercial litigation, construction defect, premises liability cases and a wide gambit of other litigation. Tommy joined the litigation division of Tijerina, Denzer & Sabo, PLLC, as a partner in 2024.
Tommy is a member of the Hidalgo County Bar Association, a member of the Texas State Bar, and is admitted into the United States Tax Court. He enjoys firearms, Harley Davidson motorcycles, Texas football, classic muscle cars and coaching multiple sports.
