John "Rick" Lyde

John "Rick" Lyde was not a native to the Rio Grande Valley but, as he likes to say, "got here as quick as I could." Having grown up in Corpus Christi, Texas, Rick eventually made his way back to Corpus after beginning his legal career in Houston. While working in Corpus Christi Rick was given the unique opportunity in 1987 to establish two Rio Grande Valley offices. The success from those two offices over the course of 20 years culminated in the formation of two firms with offices that spanned South Texas. As the managing partner, Rick oversaw offices located in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Edinburg and Brownsville, Texas.

Rick retired from full-time practice in 2020. He came out of retirement to help his nephews carry on his legacy of defending individuals and businesses throughout South Texas. Rick now lives in San Antonio, Texas. When not helping at TD Law, Rick enjoys trailering and camping throughout the United States and Texas. He also enjoys spending as much time as possible with his three children, and touring Europe with his "German family."

Well-respected by his colleagues in South Texas, Rick assisted his clients in a wide range of legal matters and was known for successfully handling cases in one of the most challenging venues in the country. Rick specialized in cases ranging from complex medical malpractice and wrongful death cases, to commercial litigation disputes. Rick has defended cases throughout South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley, and is dedicated to helping his clients manage risk in their respective cases. Rick is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell*.
